Well…back from a much-needed vacation…and apologize for being a week late…but here are my choices for Best-Dressed…and Worst Dressed Men at the recent Grammy Awards Celebration.
On the Fashion Front…it was nice to see a continued return to elegance…from most or at least from those who took the time to read their invitations…and tried to show some respect for those who were nominated and being honored…
Bow ties are back! A few black ties appeared…but bow ties were the favored neck wear. Tuxedos were aplenty…but fancy black and midnight blue dinner jackets were chosen by some of our winners.
Foot wear was pretty neat also…our winners had great shoes…our losers…well…they were losers!
Enjoy…and let’s see what the Oscars bring tomorrow night!
The Best Dressed Men Were…
Justin sports a Tom Ford-designed dinner jacket with in either a charmeuse or taffeta silk. A white lay down collar with over-sized hand tied bow with a complementary black/white pocket silk! Justin finishes his outfit off with an updated black/white spectator loafer…very cool! Note Justin’s pocket finish…a simple non-flap or besom pocket…my favorite treatment for a tuxedo or dinner jacket…timeless elegance and clean lines!
Trey is wearing a black on black patterned dinner jacket with a peak lapel. He also is wearing a simple black bow and finishes his look off with gorgeous black velvet shoes!
Drake steps out in a midnight navy, slim lapel shawl collar dinner jacket with black formal pants. He also has a simple black bow tie and finishes his look with always-elegant black patent leather shoes.
The Worst Dressed Were…
Well…Dreamz was nominated…and that gives him some leeway on what he should wear…but his outfit is just awful and a disgrace to all others being honored. Maybe he didn’t read his invitation’s dress code.
Neil Patrick Harris was a presenter…and has no excuse for not wearing a dressier suit or tuxedo…his suit just doesn’t do it.
Chris Brown was confused…not sure if he was serving ice cream as the Good Humor Man or going to his First Holy Communion…although his disregard for the Tenth Commandment when he sat during Frank Ocean’s acceptance of the Best Urban Contemporary Album kind of kills the second excuse! In short…no way should anyone have been wearing an all white tuxedo…even if nominated…
An Award Only Given To One Attendee…the Worst Shoes Award…
I love Keith’s body of work, his wife, and his contributions on this year’s American Idol…but what was he thinking when he put those boots on…
Tomorrow night we have the Oscars and some more fun fashion opportunities.
