In the Buffalo 5-on-5 tournament in March, 2012, I sustained a bad knee bruise and seriously began considering a total knee replacement (TKR). My knee was in a lot of pain back in early Spring. For those of you who don’t know, I’m bone-on-bone…and am a candidate for a total knee replacement.
Over the summer, I was introduced to a joint product known as “Play Again Now”. It is an orally taken berry-flavored gel. It is hyaluronic acid (HA) which is produced naturally in the body, but less so as we age. HA lubricates our joints and reduces inflammation in our sinovial membranes surrounding each joint. After starting taking Play Again Now, my entire body felt looser and my knee felt considerably better.

Over the summer, I played in three state tournaments in the 55-59 Division. Our team took three gold medals and I felt great! My knee felt better than it had in years. This fall, I tried to return to the CSBL full court league, but got injured in one of my first games when I landed awkwardly after a 50 year old dropped his shoulder into my chest on a drive and floored me.
In short, my orthopedic surgeon told me he didn’t think I was quite ready for a TKR…and suggested a month off, then 8 weeks of physical therapy.
I am now doing exercises I’ve never done before including lots of stretching. My knee feels even better! I have continued to use the Play Again Now product and recommend that any senior with joint discomfort research this wonderful product.
As I’ve said before, I began taking a new product, Play Again Now in June. This product has significantly reduced any knee pain I was experiencing and…for now…has postponed my consideration of getting my TKR for the forseeable future!
