Every season, one item catches my attention. This season, it is the explosion of beautiful brown shades in suiting and sport coats. My favorite brown suits almost have a charcoal/brown tone. Here is an updated glen plaid that one can wear to court, the boardroom, or any other dress occasion.
This suit dresses down to a very comfortable business-casual look by ditching the tie and moving to a bold checked shirt. Lavender complements char-brown.
Next up, you should consider a multi-tasking brown sport coat this Fall. two of my favorites are a brown herringbone or a brown window pane. First, here is a new chocolate herringbone. Add some suede elbow patches for that professorial look, maybe a contrasting suede throat tab?
Finally, if you prefer a pattern, how about this brown/blue/tan window pane. Picture this on weekends with a pair of suede half-boots and your favorite jeans!
Talk with a custom clothier near you about styling details. Here are a few of my custom recommendations:
For business use, go with a “capped” or slightly roped shoulder. I still like a flapped pocket with a ticket pocket added. Pic stitching too! shorter center vents are returning.
If the sport coat is entirely casual, consider a “natural” shoulder, with micro shoulder pads. substitute patch pockets and you are set!
Chat with a custom clothier near you about styling a few chocolate brown garments with you this Fall!

Good write up Vinnie. I’ve been unable to find a ‘smart-casual’ blazer in the uk and may have to go down the custom route.
