My Continuing Journey Towards a New Knee

By October 27, 2013No Comments

Yesterday was my first time at competitive hoops since the Nationals in Cleveland over the summer. This tourney, I did not get a cortisone shot the week before…but took two Celebrex on game day. My “go to” anti-inflammatory product, Play Again Now Website continues to provide significant relief from all joint pain…including my bone-on-bone left knee pain!

A few of our NY Legends team combined with the NJ Boys from Burlington, NJ yesterday to take a silver in the again well-run Delaware Olympics.  Our only loss was to a very tough…but young 55-59 team from the DC area.  Their bigs were all 56 or 57 and they just wore down our 60 and 61 year old bigs!  Bruce has an unbelievably soft touch inside the arc!  Steve played a terrific post, with Herm roaming and knocking down important 3’s …and using his inside game as needed.  Mike always came through with his laser-like 3-point shooting!  Ish and I just locked down their scoring guards!

Delaware 2013 Fall-Silver

Players:  Mike, Steve, Bruce, Herm in the back…Ish and me kneeling!

I played hard and don’t have other than normal post-game discomfort today, Sunday.  I have added a new series of exercises to my weekly routine after speaking with my TKR surgeon.  He told me I should be able to do any exercise with my left knee that I do with my right knee…but for the subconscious pain that exists in my left knee.  So…I’ve added two significant routines that I do twice each week:

Tabata Training– an intense interval routine…check out the website…this is a mere 4 minute workout!  And it will kick your butt!!!

K-Band Training– These resistance bands are great.  They focus on one’s core, glutes, and legs.  I’m very pleased with the strength they have added to my defense, enabling me to “close” on shooters better than I’ve been able to in the past 20 years!  I blocked a terrific 3-point shooter on Saturday in the second half of our last game…almost every time he shot!

The bottom line is that I know I need a new left knee…but am able to play competitively now..unfortunately, I am starting to pay a little too much afterwords.  Without question, however, Play Again Now Joint Magic!, my daily hyaluronic acid product has deferred my TKR for 1.5 years now and counting!  I am scheduled for a TKR January 7, 2014…but…these new exercises might just strengthen my knee enough to enable me to go for another year before knee replacement!

If you decide to try Play Again Now, choose the automatic ship option for free shipping.  If you don’t find it’s helping, just discontinue.
